Expressway or the scenic way?
Most travellers take the expressway route — it’s faster, the price is confirmed in our live booking system, and it still passes through beautiful hill country on the final stretch up to Ella. The Ratnapura route is slower and passes through rubber and tea estates most visitors don’t otherwise see, at the cost of an extra hour or so on the road.

Want to break the journey? Both routes pass reasonably close to Ratnapura or Nuwara Eliya — ask about a stop-over if you’d rather split the drive across two days.
